Benjamin Timpson’s artistic process combines analog photography with the digital technologies of today. Through the artist’s hand, Timpson observes how technology has shaped photographer and how the word communicates with one another. The series explores photography and examine photographers taking photographs. The result is a series of images created on a light table using a combination of black and white negatives, color transparencies, worms, wire, and insects. These handmade negatives form compositions of photographers taking photographs, which in turn allow me to step outside the viewfinder and explore perspectives of others and the perceptions and transition of film photography to the digital age frontier.
